Mylo Pebble: Small Scale, Bold Brews.
Say hello to the Mylo Pebble, our digital scale that redefines compact precision.
Below you can find the Mylo Pebble User Guide:
To begin, power your pebble on via the switch located on the back edge of the unit.
The pebble has two touch-screen buttons on the display panel- the “power” button and the “timer” button.
The Power button:
- Located on the right edge of the display panel, marked by the “power” symbol.
- Holding down the button for three seconds will turn the pebble on and off.
- Touching the power button for one second or less will tare the pebble.
- Double tapping the button will toggle between units of measurement (g, ml or oz)\
The Timer button:
- Located on the left edge of the display panel, marked by the “clock” symbol.
- Touching the button for one second or less will start or stop the timer.
- Holding down the button for three seconds will reset the timer.
- Double tapping the button will toggle between the three brewing modes.
Sound On/Off:
- You can turn the sound on or off by touching and holding first the timer button and then touching and holding the power button within 1 second of each other.
- You will need to keep holding both buttons down simultaneously for 5 seconds.
Brewing modes:
Mode 1: Standard
- When you power the pebble on, it will automatically set to standard brewing mode.
- This is essentially “manual” mode, where you have complete control of the timer and the scale, and no auto-taring or auto-timing triggers will be activated while using the scale.
- In standard mode, the pebble will respond like any normal coffee scale. In our experience, this is what most people are looking for in a scale- simple, reliable, uncomplicated.
Mode 2: Filter
- If you’re feeling brave/fancy/patient, double time the timer button to toggle to filter mode- you should see “M1” displayed on the top panel of the timer section of the LED display.
- The purpose of this mode is to streamline your workflow when you’re brewing filter coffee. We realise that there is a vast array of approaches to filter-brewing workflow, so if this mode isn’t intuitive for you, we recommend skipping the frustration and using standard mode instead.
- This mode has an auto-taring function and an auto-timing function, and they are designed to kick in as you’re about to start your brew.
- To activate the auto-timing function, you need to have something on the scale so that the display reads anything more than 0g, at which point you can touch the timer button which will start a 3 second countdown on the timer display. After the 3 seconds is up, the scale will auto-tare to 0.00g. It is now primed to start brewing, and as soon as you add any further weight to the scale, the timer will automatically start. Once you finish brewing and remove your apparatus from the scale, it will auto-stop the timer and flash with your final brew time and brew weight.
- To illustrate this with an example, when brewing a pour-over, you would set the pebble to filter mode and go about as normal with grinding your beans, preparing your brewer and carafe etc, and could use the scale with the tare function as you normally would in your brewing preparation. Once you placed your brewer on the scale, you could tare the scale and add your ground coffee to your desired weight, but rather than taring the scale to 0.00g before adding your first pour of water, you would touch the timer button instead. This would then start the 3 second countdown, auto-tare the scale thereafter and auto-start the timer when you start brewing. Once you finish brewing, removing the brewer from the scale would auto-stop the timer and display your final brewing weight and brewing time in flashing digits on the screen.
Mode 3: Espresso
- To access espresso mode, double-tap the timer button when in filter mode and you should see “ESP” displayed in the timer display, and “M2” displayed in the small panel above it.
- This mode also has an auto-tare and auto-timer function incorporated into it. Once your portafilter is prepped and inserted into your machine and your pebble is in place below it and set to this mode, you’re ready to rumble.
- Now when you place your espresso vessel of choice onto the pebble, it will auto-tare. It is also now primed and ready for extraction, and as soon as you start brewing and it detects espresso beginning to collect in your vessel, your pebble will auto-start the timer.
- Once you finish brewing your espresso and remove your vessel from the pebble, it will auto-stop the timer and flash your final extraction weight and total time on the LED screen.
