About 2 years ago my friend bought the SG 1 I was really impressed by the product at the time (especially compared to more expensive grinders like the commandante) and it is still in excellent condition after being used daily.
When I saw the SG mini I obviously decided to give it a go and bought myself one. When the grinder arrived the quality and feel was everything I expected, the only thing that irritated me was the screw thread. The bottom basket easily screws loose with only a small twist, but trying to screw it close takes a few attempts before it aligns nicely due to the fact that the threads are so small(not the case with the SG 1) .
Also I don’t know if the wooden handle is able to pop loose, but mine did on my third time of using it.
Overall I really love the look and feel of the grinder, but still think it is an expensive price to pay for such a small grinder compared to something bigger like the Timemore Chestnut C2 which is only R150 more expensive at the moment.
I have been pleasantly surprised with my SG Mini. Great build quality with consistent grind.
Using it mostly with my moka pot but was even able to pull some good shots of espresso.
The small form factor is going to make it perfect for travel.
Amazing value for money.
